At HillView Care, we always encourage our residents to be as social as they like. Moving into residential aged care doesn’t mean slowing down, it’s actually an opportunity to begin a new chapter of fun! 

Our dedicated lifestyle team is here to make every day brighter and more enjoyable for our residents at both our Ashmore and Merrimac residential aged care homes. We have a monthly calendar of events at both homes – with activities to suit a range of interests, abilities and energy levels.

Our lifestyle team is passionate about supporting residents’ emotional, spiritual and physical well-being. Our goal is to help residents feel happy and connected. As trained diversional therapists, our lifestyle team takes the time to really get to know each resident to create a lifestyle program that’s as individual as the people who live here.

What does HillView Care’s lifestyle team do?

There’s always something exciting happening at HillView Care. Here are just a few of the ways our lifestyle team keeps life fun:

• Fun-filled activities – From arts and crafts to trivia and games, there’s something to suit every interest.
  
• Community outings – Scenic drives, café visits and local trips help residents stay connected to the community they love.
  
• Music and entertainment – Live music, dance sessions and singalongs bring joy (and plenty of smiles).
  
• Gentle exercise programs – Designed to keep residents moving in ways that are safe, accessible and fun.
  
• One-on-one time – Sometimes, a chat and a cuppa is all it takes to make someone’s day.
  

Connecting people

One of the biggest benefits of aged care is the sense of community, and our lifestyle team works hard to make sure everyone feels included at our Gold Coast residential aged care homes. Group activities, themed events, casual coffee catch-ups and shared celebrations all help friendships form naturally.

Our residents love the events calendar. Birthdays, cultural celebrations and seasonal festivities give everyone something to look forward to. Many of our activities and outings are chosen by residents themselves, so the program truly reflects their interests. And for individuals who prefer quieter moments, there are plenty of spaces to relax, unwind or spend time with their friends and family.

Spaces designed for connection

Our homes are designed to support an active and social lifestyle. At Merrimac, residents have access to a rooftop deck, an on-site café, an events centre, and sunrooms on every level with uninterrupted views of Surfers Paradise.

Both Ashmore and Merrimac homes feature beautiful gardens to walk through, lounges, private dining rooms, recreation areas and a hairdressing salon. All spaces are fully accessible, ensuring residents using mobility aids can enjoy everything on offer.
