Residential living at HillView Care

Our residents enjoy choice about how they run their day and how they are cared for, just like they would have if living in their own home. Medication and aged care services are provided in the privacy of their room and the HillView Care team enable and encourage each resident to remain as independent as possible.

Our residents also enjoy a wide selection of premium home-cooked meals fully prepared onsite by our chefs, and are invited to participate in the many events, outings and everyday activities that are organised each week. We warmly welcome visitors, including friends and grandchildren and have many lovely spaces residents can use to entertain their guests.

The aged care entry process

Arranging entry into residential aged care can be a little overwhelming. We can assist with the application process and answer any of your questions as you navigate through the aged care system.

Your loved one will need to be assessed. The Government’s My Aged Care Service will refer you to the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). The team will make their assessment and then put approvals in place for your loved one to enter residential aged care. For more information call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422.

What is residential aged care?

Residential aged care is for elderly people who can no longer live independently at home. Residents living in residential aged care receive accommodation, 24 hour on-site nursing care, meals, as well as assistance with daily domestic tasks and personal care.  

At HillView Care we want all of our residents to feel at home and you decide how you are cared for. We are here to support your physical and emotional needs, but encourage all our residents to remain as independent as possible.

Who is eligible for residential aged care?

If you are an older person who can no longer live independently at home you may be eligible for aged care. As an older person you must be over 65 years or older (50 years or older for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people). 

If you are a younger person with a disability, dementia or other special care needs that are not met through other specialist services, you can also apply for residential aged care. 

To apply for residential aged care you need to complete an ACAT assessment online.

What are the services provided in residential aged care?

Residential aged care homes provide a range of services including accommodation, assistance with day-to-day tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry. Aged care staff help with personal care including bathing, dressing and going to the bathroom. 

Residents also have access to health services including clinical care and therapies and other health practitioners. 

Other services at HillView Care residential aged care homes include entertainment, events and activities to build social connections and provide emotional support. 

At HillView Care we provide all these services, as well as: 

  • Home-cooked meals prepared by on-site chefs. 
  • Hair and beauty services on-site.
  • 24/7 medical team.
  • Cafe on-site at Merrimac. 
  • Daily housekeeping.
What is the difference between a nursing home and an aged care home?

Nursing homes are also known as aged care homes and provide care for older people who can no longer live independently at home.

Aged care homes offer a range of care. At HillView Care we offer: 

  • Residential aged care. 
  • Respite care. 
  • Palliative care. 
  • Dementia care. 

The level of care you or your loved one needs can be determined by completing an ACAT assessment which can be submitted online. To discover more about HillView Care homes, book a visit at one of our open homes, which are held every Wednesday, 10.30am to 11.30am.
