Women’s Health Week is dedicated to the health and well-being of all women and at HillView Care, we’re proud to support this important initiative and help shine a light on the unique health needs of women — particularly as they grow older.
This year’s theme, Say yes to you, is about encouraging women to prioritise their own well-being, something we know can often fall to the bottom of the list. For many of the women who live in our Gold Coast residential aged care homes, putting themselves first hasn’t always come naturally. They’ve spent years caring for families, supporting communities and giving so much to others. Women’s Health Week is a timely reminder that their health and happiness still matter.
While the women living at HillView Care may no longer be looking after busy households or juggling careers, they still deserve access to personalised healthcare, meaningful connection and a lifestyle that supports their independence and well-being.
At HillView Care, we see Women’s Health Week as an opportunity to start a conversation. It gives us a chance to encourage discussions with residents, families and staff about what good health looks like in later life and how we can continue to support the women in our care to live well.
Our commitment to women’s health is ongoing. At both our HillView Care residences, in Ashmore and Merrimac, we take a holistic approach to residential aged care. That means supporting physical health through nutrition, movement and medical care, as well as emotional and social wellbeing.
We’ve worked hard to create a community where women feel heard, respected and included, whether it’s through group activities, shared mealtimes, quiet moments in the garden or friendly chats with our staff. These simple but important moments can make a big difference to a woman’s quality of life, and they’re part of what makes HillView feel like home.
Some of the ways we support the health and well-being of women at HillView include:
These are just some of the ways we help residents say yes to themselves.
If you’re looking into aged care for a loved one, we know it’s a big decision and often comes with so many emotions. One common worry is whether a parent or loved one will feel isolated or lose their sense of purpose.
Women’s Health Week is a helpful reminder that aged care can be a place of connection, especially when care is professional, personal and community-minded.
At HillView Care, we always encourage families to stay very involved, visit regularly, and be part of our community. Whether it’s a cup of tea in the garden, joining in an activity, or just sharing a conversation, these moments are crucial.
This Women’s Health Week, we’re standing by the message – say yes to you! To all the incredible women in our care, we see you, we support you, and we’re here to help you to prioritise your health and well-being.
