When faced with the challenging decision of whether to transition a loved one into residential aged care, the fear of isolation often weighs heavily on both your mind and theirs. It’s natural to worry about their well-being and the potential loss of social connections during this transition.
At HillView Care, we believe that residential aged care is more than just a comfortable living environment. It’s an all-encompassing approach that is centred around creating vibrant communities where residents feel connected.
The HillView Care lifestyle team works hard to ensure residents feel a sense of belonging and connection, organising various activities and events to build bridges of connection among our residents – in turn enhancing their well-being and overall quality of life.
Gone are the days when residential aged care was associated with solitude and seclusion. At HillView Care, we’re all about building engaging environments where our residents thrive. Our lifestyle team hosts a variety of engaging activities, outings and events that are specially designed to help residents connect, pursue their interests and have fun!
From art classes to movie nights, concerts, happy hour, trivia and lunches out in the community, residents can participate in a wide range of exciting activities that help them build lasting relationships with both HillView Care staff and other residents.
A lot of thought and consideration went into the design of our Merrimac and Ashmore residential aged care homes on the Gold Coast. Within the vibrant HillView Care communities we have created spaces that foster connection and social interaction.
For residents who prefer to stay within the HillView Care grounds, we have various lounges, private dining rooms and recreation rooms where friends and family can get together. Our beautiful roof deck, café and events centre at Merrimac offer a captivating space that captures views to Surfers Paradise.
If residents are looking for a quiet place for more of a personal catch-up, each level of our Gold Coast residential aged care homes features a sunroom with uninterrupted views.
We know many of our residents like to spend time outdoors in nature, so we’ve created beautiful gardens that provide a calm environment where residents can connect with each other and their families and friends.
You can take a relaxed stroll through our beautiful gardens with your loved ones, enjoying nature and fresh air. It’s a tranquil space where residents can feel the sun on their face while spending time with the people they love the most.
For our lifestyle team, building connections goes hand-in-hand with taking care of the health and well-being of our residents. Many of our events and activities go beyond simple entertainment, providing opportunities to meet the emotional, physical and cognitive needs of our residents.
At HillView Care, our team caters to residents who like to stay active. The HillView Care team put our residents’ health and well-being first, so to help promote healthy living we started the HillView Care ‘Wellness Program’. This program was designed by our on-site physiotherapy team and is an individualised 12-week program for selected residents at HillView Care Ashmore and Merrimac. Read more about the program here.
At HillView Care on the Gold Coast, our residents have varying needs. We go above and beyond to ensure each resident receives equal access to our community spaces and offer full accessibility for residents with mobility issues. We encourage everyone to participate and provide extra care so every resident can enjoy our events and activities.
With building bridges of connection a key focus point for the lifestyle team at HillView Care, you can be assured that your loved one will be part of a vibrant community with engaging spaces and an environment where everyone belongs.
Through a holistic approach to aged care, we can foster a deep sense of community where residents can build meaningful connections with staff and each other. We believe it’s important for our residents to stay connected with friends and family and do everything we can to foster these relationships.
