Healthy living in residential aged care

Healthy living is so important as you age, whether you’re living independently or in a residential aged care home. Healthy living means always prioritising physical and mental health and wellbeing, from maintaining a healthy diet to fostering connections with family, friends and the community.

Here at HillView Care we always prioritise the health and wellbeing of our residents to ensure they are living their life to the fullest. We provide a wide range of premium services to ensure residents have everything they need to stay active and healthy.

Some benefits of healthy living as you age include:

  • Better sleep.
  • Improved appetite.
  • Reduced risk of some diseases.
  • Lower risk of falls.
  • Better balance and strength.
  • A more positive outlook.
  • Feeling connected and safe.

As a premium aged care home on the Gold Coast we offer the very best, here are just a few things we offer to keep our residents fit and healthy.

Healthy, dietitian endorsed meals

A key to healthy living is healthy eating. At HillView Care our experienced chefs prepare home-cooked meals onsite, catering to all dietary requirements. Our chefs know exactly what fresh ingredients go into each and every meal we prepare for our residents.

Our dietitian endorsed meals are designed to keep residents happy and healthy and our chefs can also cater for private family functions! Our kitchens have even won food safety awards!

High-quality care

At HillView Care our expert medical team is on-hand to take care of our resident’s health 24/7. But, that’s not all! We also have a range of other services to help residents look after their health and wellbeing, including podiatry, physiotherapy, hair and beauty.

Our highly trained staff are compassionate and kind and by providing personalised care they are able to support the individual needs of every resident.

Social activities and events

We help residents stay as independent as possible while living in residential aged care in our Gold Coast homes. This connection and engagement is essential when looking after the mental health of aged care residents.

We have created an engaging environment where residents can connect with others, with their community and keep their minds active. Our wonderful diversional therapists organise a range of entertaining activities and events, both in-house and out in the community.

Some of our regular activities include bus trips, trivia, exercise, social morning teas, concerts, happy hours and more! Check out what’s on at our Ashmore home in December!

Exercise programs

If possible, staying physically active is important as you age. For residents who like to stay active, we offer exercise programs most mornings with our diversional therapists. We also offer our HillView Steps program, a regular assisted walking group that visits local beaches and lake lands.

Encouraging family time

We think it’s important to help our residents spend quality time with family and friends to help them feel connected. Whether it’s in one of our private function rooms, strolling through our gardens or on one of the many sun loungers or terraces, both our Gold Coast aged care homes offer a variety of spaces where residents can meet up or share a dinner or party together.

Our Merrimac aged care home also has an on-site café with a beautiful grassed area where kids can play!
