Life in a residential aged care home

On many occasions the move into a residential aged care home is motivated by a medical incident or a decision that your loved one can no longer live at home independently.

While they may need some extra help and support with day-to-day tasks, there are many other benefits that make residential aged care living a great choice.

At HillView Care we have two premium residential aged care homes on the Gold Coast, one at Merrimac and another at Ashmore. Both homes have beautiful facilities that provide support and personalised care for those requiring assistance in their senior years.

There are many benefits of living in residential aged care on the Gold Coast, here’s what you can expect from life at HillView Care:

Residents live the way they want

One of our main priorities here at HillView Care is to encourage residents to stay as independent as possible. We know it’s not easy relying on others for your care, so wherever they can we want our residents to have the flexibility to live their life as they wish.

We understand each individual resident is different, so we ask residents to decide how their days go and do as much for themselves as possible, while we provide all the care and support they need.

If daily tasks or getting around in their suites is becoming a little more difficult, we’ll help them access the tools or equipment they need to make completing these tasks easier.

Our staff respect our resident’s privacy, even providing medication in their suites to make them feel more comfortable.

Hotel style living with 24/7 care

While we do provide 24/7 nursing care, we also provide all the luxuries you’d expect from hotel living.

At HillView Care we provide comfortable, spacious accommodation options that cater for both singles and couples. With a variety of beautiful rooms available, each room comes with a private ensuite, living area, built-in robe and a large feature window or sliding door to take advantage of the lovely views.

Most rooms open up onto a verandah or terrace, and rooms at HillView Care Merrimac are architecturally designed with verandahs overlooking panoramic views. At HillView Care Ashmore, residents will be able to admire a leafy outlook with french doors that open onto a covered verandah or garden terrace.

Now about the food! At HillView Care we pride ourselves on our healthy and delicious menu, endorsed by a dietitian and prepared fresh on-site by our very own chefs. Just like a great hotel, our residents enjoy breakfast, morning tea, a hot lunch or salad, afternoon tea, a 3-course dinner and a light supper.

Meet friends and maintain an active social life

One of the biggest fears of moving into a residential aged care home is the fear of isolation. There is a myth that once a loved one moves into an aged care home they are gone and forgotten. This couldn’t be further from the truth!

At HillView Care our residents have better social lives than people half their age! Our diversional therapists provide many opportunities for residents to build social connections, meet new friends and stay socially active.

We are dedicated to empowering and improving the wellbeing of residents and encourage them to get out and about. We offer a range of activities and events on-site and out in the community, for people who prefer quieter times, or those who like to mingle and get physically active.
